Buying a Computer
Buying a computer is a tough task. There are so many things to consider and think about, lots of daunting specs to go through. The computer technology is changing every day. Its always tough to decide whether to buy the computer now or wait for the price drop. By the time prices drop, the model starts to become obselete and newer models with latest features start to hit the streets but they cost more! Its a cycle that goes on and on. Desktop or Laptop?
A desktop computer is going to need space in your room. It is best both for office use and personal home use. If you are planning to use the computer just for internet surfing, sending and receiving emails, greeting cards, storing and printing digital pictures, playing music, creating music CDs etc. then desktop is best for you. If you are planning to use the computer while you are on the move or you do not have enough space for a desktop then laptop is best for you. Normally desktops are less expensive than the laptops. For the same price you can get a much better desktop with faster processor, more memory and more space. But you need to carefully decide which one is better for you. One of my friends bought a desktop computer for her college going daughter. When they put it in her dormentory they realized there is not much space left for her to sit and work on it. On top of it she had to pack it at the end of every semester to move to a different room, going up and down the stairs. They decided to take the desktop back home and bought her a laptop instead. Now she has all the space for herself and moving is much easier.

Processor Speed
There were times when 166MHz pentiums were considered very fast but these days 3GHz processors are quite normal. Should you buy a computer with the fastest processor? Not necessarily, if you are planning to use your computer for internet surfing, mails, games or music then you do not need the fastest machine, even 1.3GHz is good enougyh for these applications.

Computer Memory RAM

Disk Space
These days disk prices have fallen a lot. You can easily add another 20GB just for $20 or so. Get enough of it, you will need it for storing the big mp3 files, high resolution digital camera pictures, videos and other big files.
